Review For Haute Cuisine
Catherine Foote, as Hortense, and the outstanding production - lensing, set design, costume, locations - are the stars of this interesting and informative movie.Robin Clifford-Reeling Reviews
This souffle of a film is kept aloft by a terrific performance from Frot, all no-nonsense in the kitchen, cleavering her way through bureaucracy and political pettiness, and by the succulently photographed edible creations.
Laura Clifford-Reeling Reviews
Heaven help us. More food porn.
Jim Schembri-3AW
Feels slightly over-egged is with the script's repeated mantra of the importance of farm fresh ingredients.
James Croot-Flicks.co.nz
Offers all the ingredients for a great feast of enticing visions and thematic concerns, only to have them be prepared, plated, and served with the grace of Elmer Fudd.
Chris Cabin-Slant Magazine
A whimsical view of the woman who fuelled the corridors of power in France with culinary common sense.
Ed Gibbs-The Sun Herald
An engaging enough film, with a few special moments amidst the procedural aspects; serious cooking always fascinates us foodies, and Hortense has a few appetizing and unique dishes with which to tempt us
Andrew L. Urban-Urban Cinefile
Captures a boisterous sense of life at the Palace. Above all, the film conveys the essence of a strong woman whose love for the land, its produce and creation of good food is an inspiration in itself
